I took the early morning off today and did not get on the fishing grounds till almost 11am. A day that started out with hardly a breath of wind had quickly changed to a stiff SW wind that had the ocean kicking up.

I headed out the Fire Island Inlet and to the scene of success on Sunday and found the bunker schools and striped bass right where we left them. Despite the building seas I managed to pull 4 striped bass from 20 to 24 lbs off the schools of bunker. As the schools crossed over the 3 mile demarcation into federal waters I had to let them go as striped bass possession past that line is a BIG offense. The ocean had really kicked up by then so it was an easy decision.

I took bunkers in the livewell back into the bay inside the inlet and managed to find 2 more smaller stripers before calling it a day.
