I had good friends of mine, Kevin and Kenny aboard today as we set our sights on some Fall diamond jigging action. We exited Fire Island Inlet onto a glassy calm ocean and started our search to the East where we found only small striped bass picking baitfish off the surface. Ken had a couple of topwater plugs but these were only about 18 inches long. Not what we wanted.

Circled back West of the inlet and in our travels came across birds diving over baitfish on the surface getting blasted by big bluefish. Dropped the jigs and it was game on for the rest of the day as we jigged huge bluefish till our arms were aching. As the sun was getting down we headed back and came across a school of nice size stripers rolling on the surface. Grabbed a couple of those on top water plugs before heading back to the barn

Had a great time on the water today with a couple of great buddies on an ocean as calm as I have ever seen it.
