My fishing buddy Dennis and I headed outside Fire Island Inlet for another shot at some migrating stripers. The ocean was a bit lumpy but it was surely manageable. Arriving on our first location we saw little signs of life and only sporadic marks of bait on the recorder so we took off in search.

Heading west we worked a few promising areas with lots of bait showing on the finder but no fish on them. Before long we got on an area lit up with the same bluefish as yesterday’s trip. The bite was not as hot today but we still had enough tackle busters to make the day.

Hoping to find some stripers we worked back toward Fire Island area and came across bass rolling on the surface briefly and Dennis was able to get a shot in grabbing a decent 36 inch fish out of the fray before they sounded. We rolled around the area looking for signs but nothing further happened unfortunately.
